Our barometers are designed to provide accurate local weather forecasts. Here is everything you need to know to set them up and get the most out of them in your daily life.
Before starting, it is essential to know the atmospheric pressure of your location, expressed in hectopascals (hPa). This value varies based on altitude and current weather. You can find this data on a specialized weather website or via a nearby weather station.
Once the pressure is identified, set the needle of your barometer to this value. Using a small screwdriver, very gently turn the screw located on the back of the device while holding it vertically. Then, lightly tap the glass to help the needle settle into the correct position.
After the initial setting, your barometer is ready to operate. The needle will now move according to pressure variations. By observing these movements (rising or falling), you can make your own forecasts for the next 12 to 24 hours. Note: Not recommended above 400m.
After the initial setting, the aneroid barometer measures atmospheric pressure without using liquid. It is composed of a Vidie capsule, a thin metallic box partially emptied of air. Its corrugated walls are extremely sensitive to pressure changes: Rising pressure generally indicates fair weather. Falling pressure is a sign of approaching poor weather.
Over time, this highly sensitive mechanism may require a little help. It is recommended to tap gently on the glass before each reading to ensure the needle reacts correctly to pressure changes. If you notice a slight discrepancy, simply recalibrate the needle using the rear screw to match the current local pressure.
A barometer is more than just a decorative object; it is an instrument that reconnects you with your local environment. It invites you to observe pressure shifts and anticipate the weather, establishing a direct link with nature. It perfectly accompanies weather-dependent activities: gardening, outdoor trips, or simply knowing when to take an umbrella.
To preserve the beauty and precision of your instrument, install it indoors in a location with stable temperatures. Avoid bathrooms, outdoor placement, or proximity to heat sources like radiators. The device must be hung vertically to ensure the mechanism functions accurately. Reminder: Use of this product is discouraged at altitudes exceeding 400m.
